Return Wise currently serves merchants everywhere except stores based in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland — our data-transfer compliance package for those regions is in final legal review — and Brazil. Your shoppers can still be anywhere your store ships (except Brazil): a US store's customers in Europe use the return portal normally, in any of its eight languages. Return Wise stores only the order, customer, and return data required to operate the app — nothing is shared with third parties for advertising or analytics. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, hosted in managed PostgreSQL, and auto-purged based on the retention window you configure. We fully support Shopify's GDPR compliance webhooks for data export and deletion requests.
We request only the scopes needed to manage returns: read and write access to orders and customers, read access to products, permission to issue bonus store credit transactions, app proxy permission so we can host the customer-facing return portal on your storefront, and permission to upload your portal logo to your store's files. No payment processing, no app theme edits.
Uninstalling the app triggers Shopify's standard shop redaction webhook. Your shop data is removed from Return Wise within Shopify's 48-hour window. Store credit already issued to your customers remains valid on your store because it lives in Shopify, not in Return Wise.
