Where Return Wise is a better fit

This isn't “better than Return Prime at everything.” Return Prime has been on the App Store since October 2020, is one of the established apps in the category, and connects to a long list of logistics and WMS tools. But if you're a small or mid-size store weighing what a return actually costs you, the differences are concrete:

What you'd pay at your volume, side by side

The same published numbers, worked through as a monthly cost. The Return Wise column is flat because the Founding plan has no monthly fee and no per-request fee, so volume doesn't move it. Return Prime's two entry paths are shown separately — its free-to-install tier metered at $0.49 a request, and its Grow plan at the three volume stops returnprime.com publishes:

The Grow column is the ladder on returnprime.com's slider ($19.99 at 60 requests, $49.99 at 180, $99.99 at 450), shown at its lowest stop for volumes under 60. Thrive AI ($29.99–$159.99 across the same stops, $0.79 per extra request) and Scale ($149.99/mo on the App Store listing, “Get a Quote” on the website) aren't costed here, and Grow, Thrive AI and Scale each show a 15-day free trial on the App Store listing (returnprime.com's FAQ says a trial exists but names no length) — the columns above are steady-state monthly cost after any trial. Return Wise's column carries one condition rather than a caveat: the Founding plan is what new installs get while the founding window is open, and it is then kept for as long as Return Wise stays installed — no monthly fee, no per-return fee, nothing to prorate or true up, and no allowance to run out of.

How we calculate refunds

Return Wise refunds the price a customer actually paid for an item — the discounted unit price, after any order-level discount is spread across the line. That math is shown on the return portal before the shopper submits, and again in your queue, so nothing about the number is a black box. If you charge a return or restocking fee, it's shown before submit too. When Return Prime is the better choice

We'd rather you pick the right tool than the wrong one. Choose Return Prime if you need:

• To be billed in the EU, the UK, Switzerland — or Brazil. Return Wise isn't available yet to merchants whose Shopify billing country is in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland, or Brazil. If that's you, this comparison is academic and Return Prime is the one that can serve you — its listing also advertises an “EU-compliant withdrawal button”. (Selling to shoppers in those places is fine; it's where your store is billed that decides.)
• Refund methods we don't offer. Its comparison table lists gift card, discount code, bank transfer and UPI alongside store credit. Return Wise does native Shopify store credit and original-payment refunds, and nothing else.
• In-store returns, or a WMS to plug into. Its listing names in-store returns, QR codes, and “100+ integrations”, with WMS connections and API and webhook access on its top tier. Return Wise has outbound webhooks but no public API, and no POS module.
• Round-the-clock support and an account manager. Return Prime advertises 24×7 live support, with an account manager on its higher plans. Return Wise is a small independent team — you reach the people who write the code, but not at 3am.

A small DTC store that mainly wants returns handled well, without a per-request meter running, usually doesn't need those — which is exactly who Return Wise is for.
